So, I lost the recordings from my 24 hour long viewing of TBN in August and my editor and I decided it makes sense to do the whole thing over again. This is for a book I'm writing for Church Publishing about cable "Christian" broadcasting, you know big hair, prosperity gospel, Benny Hinn. The idea is that I watch it for 24 hours straight and have a slate of interesting people come to my house during that time and watch an hour each with me. I have a couple of Bible Scholars, an observant Jew, my evangelical parents, a preaching professor, a lesbian Unitarian, my non-Christian ex-boyfriend, a couple of Lutheran pastors...you get the picture, basically my friends are agreeing to help me. (I just made them sound like nothing more than demographics but they're actually just some people who I think are funny and smart and who like me enough to come to my house and watch an hour of televangelism). So I am hoping some of the Sarcastic Lutheran readers will join in. Wherever you are this Friday (Nov 2nd) from 5am Mountain time until 5am Saturday (Nov 3rd) turn on TBN, watch it, think about it and send me an e-mail, maybe you'll end up in the book.
If nothing else pray for me, last time I got diarrhea around hour 17. I think all that "anointing with the Holy Spirit" gave me the runs.
i'd be down ... i'm not exactly sure what sort of feedback/company you're looking for but ... i'm always willing to let my brain try and jump out of my head ;) this could be the same lunacy that will lead me to buy Osteen's latest book. gah!

This sounds way interesting Nadia. We don't have a TV because we watch all our shows on the internet. I wonder if TBN has internet broadcasting. I'll check it out.

Dang, I missed it. I can tolderate most of the shows, especially with a beer in hand, but the kids shows with the puppets or special effects are the most maddening for me.
